Stop Overthinking. Start Living. 🌿

Overthinking quietly steals the present β€” you're physically here, but mentally living in a tomorrow that hasn't happened yet. A gentle invitation back to what is.

Have you ever been sitting with your children, but your mind is somewhere else?

  • Thinking about tomorrow.
  • Worrying about what might happen.
  • Replaying something you said yesterday.
  • Wondering, β€œWhat if I make the wrong decision?”

This is how overthinking quietly steals the present.

You are physically here, but mentally living in a future that hasn't happened yet.

As mothers, our minds can feel especially busy.

  • Did I do enough today?
  • Are my children okay?
  • What if something goes wrong?
  • Am I making the right choices?
  • What will happen next?

There is always something to think about. And sometimes, the more we think, the less peaceful we feel.

Parenting already comes with many daily demands, and research has found that the mental work of parenting β€” anticipating needs, managing schedules, and making constant decisions β€” can add to stress and affect well-being.

But here's something I want every mother to remember:

You don't have to solve tomorrow today.

Tomorrow will come with its own questions. Today only asks you to be present.

A mother sitting on a rug with a warm cup of tea while her child plays with wooden toys in a sunlit room
  • When your child is telling you a story, listen.
  • When you're having your morning tea, enjoy it.
  • When you're walking, notice the trees and the breeze.
  • When you're praying, allow yourself to be fully there.

You don't need to have every answer before you can enjoy this moment.

Come back to what is

Sometimes, the best thing you can do is pause. Take a breath. Look around. Notice what is happening right now.

Ask yourself: β€œWhat is actually happening in this moment?”

Not what might happen. Not what happened yesterday. Not what you're afraid could happen. What is happening now?

  • Maybe your child is smiling.
  • Maybe your home is quiet.
  • Maybe you're holding a warm cup of tea.
  • Maybe you're simply breathing.

That is enough for this moment.

Overthinking often makes us believe that worrying is the same as preparing. But worrying doesn't always give us control. Sometimes, it only takes away the peace we already have.

So when your mind starts creating endless β€œwhat ifs,” gently bring yourself back to β€œwhat is.”

  • Breathe.
  • Trust.
  • Let go of what you cannot control.

Protect your peace

You can plan for the future without living in it. You can learn from the past without staying there. And you can choose to enjoy the moment that is actually yours.

Your children will grow. These days will change. The little moments you sometimes rush through will one day become memories.

So don't let overthinking make you miss the life happening right in front of you.

Protect your peace. Stop overthinking. Start living. 🀍

And if today feels overwhelming, remember: you don't need to figure everything out today. Just take a breath. Come back to the present. And be here.
